Planetary #9: Planet Fiction
Created by Warren Ellis and John Cassaday
Writer: Warren Ellis
Art: John Cassaday
Colours: David Baron
Letters: Mike Heisler
Editor: John Layman

What Happened:
This issue of Planetary details the last mission of Planetary's previous third man, Ambrose Chase.

Planetary are investigating the return of a shuttle sent to a fictional planet earth. Something goes terribly wrong though, it seems an inhabitant of the fictional earth has returned with the shuttle and it's pilots. And Planetary are in the thick of the action.

Comments:
Wow... I feel bad for giving previous issues high marks, this issue is AWESOME!

Good points: What's good? What isn't good about this issue! This issue has so much! Plenty of revelations on the mysterious past of Planetary. There are hints at who the Fourth Man might be. The manner of Ambrose's (the previous 3rd man) death is revealed.

Great characterisation, I think that finally after this issue I like the Drummer! Which is great, the events in this issue also help to explain why the Drummer and Jakita act the way they do at times.

There's block-busting action, nail biting tension and mind bending ideas in this story. The pacing was excellent, the art and writing worked in sync to make the reader feel fear, loss and heart pounding adrenalin at the appropriate times throughout this comic. This is great!

It's also a self contained story, pretty much, so if you haven't read Planetary or picked up an issue for awhile, BUY THIS ISSUE! it is great!

Bad Points: There isn't really anything here to complain about. The only thing I wonder is if it would have been better if regular colourist Laura Depuy had coloured this issue. Not that David Baron did anything bad, he was great. But I still wonder...
